Wilhelm Dunker (editor)

Wilhelm Dunker (born December 25, 1829 in Hasselfelde , † December 3, 1902 in Stettin ) was a German newspaper editor and poet . From 1855 he worked in Stettin, where he first headed the Pommersche Zeitung , then the Oderzeitung and later the German Fishery Newspaper .

Life

Dunker did an apprenticeship in the Westermann printing house in Braunschweig . After a station in Düsseldorf , he gained international experience in Paris , Fontainebleau and London .

From 1855 he worked in Stettin . Here he initially worked as a proofreader and as a private teacher for English and French. From 1859 to 1863 he was Hermann Grieben's successor and editor-in-chief of the Pommerschen Zeitung , a daily newspaper that was founded in 1849 under the title “Pommersche Bürgerzeitung” and published until 1866. In 1863 he was the editor in charge of the newly formed, twice daily appearing or newspaper , but entered the 1875th In 1878 he finally became the editor in charge of the newly founded, weekly German fishing newspaper . Furthermore, from 1861 Dunker was a partner in a Stettin printing company.

Dunker was also the co-author of an English-German dictionary and worked as a poet .
