Wilhelm Füger

Wilhelm Friedrich Füger (born February 7, 1936 in Bodenbach ; † August 19, 2017 ) was a German English scholar and literary scholar .

Life

Wilhelm Füger studied at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and was awarded a Dr. phil. PhD . In 1970 he completed his habilitation in Munich with a work on English prose poetry . In 1973 he was promoted to full professor of English literature at the Free University of Berlin called .

He gained an international reputation through his research on narrative theory and James Joyce . In addition, he was one of the first literary scholars to use the possibilities of electronic data processing for their research.
