Wilhelm Franz (politician)

Wilhelm Heinrich Ludwig Franz (* 1804 ; † 1871 ) was a Prussian councilor and landlord as well as a free conservative member of the constituent Reichstag of the North German Confederation .

Life

Franz was a Prussian councilor and since 1836 land tenant in Eggenstedt in the district of Wanzleben in the province of Saxony . He ran a pig farm and a distillery there and was involved in founding a savings bank in Eggenstedt. Franz wrote articles for the annals of agriculture in the Royal Prussian States . He was also chairman of the deputation for the promotion of horse breeding , a member of the commission for the control of animal shows and a member of the First Congress of North German Agriculture .

He had been tenant of the castle domain in Ballenstedt since 1848 and leased it to his son-in-law Ernst Rabe in 1857.

In February 1867 Franz was elected a member of the constituent Reichstag of the North German Confederation in the constituency of Magdeburg 6 ( Wanzleben ). He belonged to the free conservatives and approved the draft constitution of the Bismarck-friendly and small German majority.
