Wilhelm Goetze (physician)

Johann Dietrich Wilhelm Goetze , also Johann Diderich Wilhelm Goetz , (baptized May 2, 1773 in Neustrelitz ; † February 27, 1830 there ) was a German doctor.

Life

Wilhelm Goetze came from a family that had generated generations of lawyers, doctors and theologians in Mecklenburg. He was a son of Johann Friedrich Goetze († 1801), steward and personal surgeon of the ducal family of Mecklenburg-Strelitz . From 1791 he attended the Cathedral School Güstrow and studied human medicine at the University of Göttingen , on 6 February 1797 where he became Dr. med. received his doctorate.

He settled as a general practitioner in Neustrelitz and was council and court medic from 1801. From 1802 he was physicus of the Neustrelitz cabinet office. In 1812 Duke Karl appointed him a member of the newly created Medical Examination Commission for the Strelitzer Lande. He was a troop doctor and surgeon with the Grand Ducal Hussar Corps and also took care of the agricultural labor, breeding and madhouse in Strelitz-Alt . From 1819 he was a district physician .
