Wilhelm Heinrich Valentiner (born December 20, 1806 on Futterkamp ; † December 2, 1856 in Kiel ), was a German doctor, university professor and city ​​physician .

Life

Wilhelm Heinrich Valentiner came from a family originally from Flensburg , which produced numerous Schleswig-Holstein pastors, doctors and lawyers in the 18th and 19th centuries. He was the son of the landlord Heinrich Christian Valentiner (1767-1831). Adolph Valentiner was his younger brother.

He studied human medicine , first at the University of Göttingen , where he became a member of the Corps Holsatia Göttingen , then at the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel , where he joined the Corps Holsatia in 1829 . He was awarded Dr. med. obtained his doctorate and habilitation in 1835 as a private lecturer specializing in ear medicine . In 1838 he was appointed prosector at the university. In 1842 he was also the physicus of the city and the district of Kiel. His forensic medical reports, which earned him the reputation of being one of the best state doctors in our country, were of particular importance .

He acquired the Düsternbrooker Seebad, expanded it and made it widely accessible.

Valentiner left a valuable collection of very carefully crafted brain and nerve specimens to the anatomical collection of the University of Kiel .
