William III. (Angoulême)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

William III. Tallerand ( Willelmus Talerandus ; † August 6, 962 ) was a count of Périgord and Angoulême from the House of Taillefer . He was a son of Count Bernard of Périgord-Angoulême and his first wife Bertha.

On an unknown date, he succeeded his brother Arnaud I Barnabé ( Arnaldus Borracio ) as Count of Périgord and Angoulême . His date of death is recorded in the Annales Engolismenses . Because he had no children, his half-brother Ranulf Bompar ( Rannulfus Bomparius ) followed him .

Individual evidence

  1. Wilhelm was the second of his name to officiate as Count of Angoulême. Taking into account his grandfather, Count Wilhelm I of Périgord , he is named in dynastic continuity with the ordinal number "III."
