Wilhelm Kinghorst

Wilhelm Kinghorst (born December 31, 1877 in Diepholz ; † March 10, 1947 ) was a school director, local researcher and author who lived and worked in Diepholz ( Diepholz district , Lower Saxony ).

Act

Wilhelm Kinghorst was born in Diepholz as the son of the tanner master Carl Friedrich Wilhelm Kinghorst. From 1888 to 1892 he attended the advanced section of the elementary school, from 1893 the Diepholzer preparande and in 1895 the teachers' seminar in Verden . After the final exam (Easter 1898) he got a job as a primary school teacher in Salzhausen . From 1900 to 1905 he was an assistant teacher at the Preparande in Diepholz. In Berlin he was then trained as a seminar teacher in a one-year course and from 1906 was employed as a teacher at the Bederkesa seminar. During this time he passed the secondary school, rector and matriculation exams as an external student and began in 1909 at the University of Münsterwith the study of German, history, propaedeutics and religion. In 1912 he was given the title Die Grafschaft Diepholz at the time of her transition to the House of Braunschweig-Lüneburg as Dr. phil. PhD.

After completing his studies, Kinghorst was prorector at the Herford and Lüdenscheid seminars, and from 1923 seminar director in Hamm. A little later the seminars in Westafeln were closed and Kinghorst was entrusted with the handling. From 1927 he was director of studies at the advanced school in Petershagen and from April 1931 the Graf Friedrich school in Diepholz. He was distant from the NSDAP, which is why he took early retirement in 1942. In addition, he was involved as a local researcher and book author. Numerous contributions from him appeared in the local newspapers of the Diepholz district. In 1924 he was one of the founders of the Heimatverein, which he also chaired.
