Wolf Wilhelm Lande , distributed only Wilhelm Lande (also Wolf Lande ), (born January 1, 1869 ; died 1951 in the USA ) was a German entrepreneur and until 1938 owner of the W. Lande cigarette factory in Dresden .

Life

In 1897 Wilhelm Lande founded his first cigarette factory in Halberstadt and relocated it to Dresden at the turn of the century. His partner was Max Lande, a relative of his who came from Dessau .

The headquarters of the Lande cigarette and tobacco factory "Kasaky" in Dresden was initially on Zöllnerstrasse in Johannstadt , but Lande and the company soon moved to Striesen (Laubestrasse 24, the company was now called W. Lande Zigarettenfabrik ). While there were around 100 employees there at the beginning, Lande continued to expand. In 1929 he founded the subsidiary "Macedonia", which was primarily responsible for sales and delivery.

After more than 25 years, he moved his company in Striesen to Junghansstraße 5 in 1932.

Receiving high awards in 1932, around 600 employees produced 1.2 billion cigarettes that year. Unlike other Dresden Jews, the family decided immediately after the National Socialist seizure of power to sell what was then a highly modern company and to emigrate: Wilhelm Lande and his wife Ida, nee. Katz, emigrated in the spring of 1933, daughter Cäcilie sold Lande and Macedonia in June / July 1933 to the Nazi functionary Karl Geissinger and also left Germany.

Wilhelm Lande died of suicide in the USA in 1951 . The factory building of the W. Lande cigarette factory , which is under monument protection, is now part of the f6 Cigarettenfabrik Dresden GmbH .
