Wilhelm Nagel (musician)
Wilhelm Nagel (born November 3, 1871 in Hoheneck , † October 1, 1955 in Esslingen am Neckar ) was a German organist and choir director .
Life
Nagel received his training at the Esslingen teachers' seminar from Christian Fink . In 1894 he became a seminar assistant music teacher, in addition he studied at the Stuttgart Conservatory a . a. with Samuel de Lange , Heinrich Lang , Reinhold Seyerlen and Wilhelm Speidel . From 1902 he continued his studies in Berlin with Heinrich Reimann at the University of Music in Berlin . From 1905 to 1945 he worked as a seminar music teacher in Esslingen. Since 1915 he was organist and choir director at the St. Dionys Church in Esslingen.
He is considered the leading Württemberg choir director, u. a. Federal choir master of the Swabian Choir Association , and was the composer of numerous songs, secular and sacred choral works.
Honors
In Esslingen and in Ludwigsburg (Hoheneck) streets are named after him.
