Wilhelm Nordin

Wilhelm Nordin (born April 26, 1924 in Brno ; † May 7, 1993 ) was a German naval officer.

Life

Nordin worked as a worker until the end of 1941. From December 1941 to November 1945 he was in the service of the German Navy , most recently as Corporal Corporal. He came in 1945 in Norway in American captivity .

After his captivity, Nordin went to the Soviet occupation zone , became a member of the SED and a member of the German People's Police in 1946 and graduated from the Higher Police School in 1948. He joined the Maritime Police Headquarters in 1950 and until 1951 was deputy for teaching questions at the Maritime Officers School in Parow with the rank of Chief Maritime Police Officer . In January 1952 he took over the management of the Naval Officer Training Institute in Stralsund . He remained in this position when the Maritime Police was converted into the People's Police in July 1952 .

From 1955 to 1956 he took part in a course at the Naval War Academy NG Kuznetsov of the Soviet Navy in Leningrad and returned to his old post. From 1958 to 1961, Nordin was Deputy Chief of Staff in the People's Navy Command and from August 1, 1961 to February 24, 1963, Deputy Chief of the People's Navy and Chief of Staff with the rank of captain at sea . Then he was transferred to the Military Academy in Dresden, where he received his doctorate in 1968 and was deputy commander and head of the faculty and the naval forces section until 1976. During this time he was appointed Rear Admiral in 1966. In 1971 he was appointed full professor of military science. From 1976 to 1982 he took part as deputy head of the GDR delegation at the III. United Nations Conference on the Law of the Sea. From 1976 to 1984 Prof. Dr. rer. mil. Nordin Commander of the officers' college of the People's Navy "Karl Liebknecht" in Stralsund and held a professorship there. On the occasion of the GDR national holiday , he was promoted to Vice Admiral on October 7, 1978 . He was retired at the age of 60.
