Wilhelm Otto (actor)

Wilhelm Otto , real name: Wilhelm Pfennigwerth (born October 4, 1825 in Bautzen , † February 14, 1918 in Lübeck ) was a German theater actor .

Life

He began his stage career in 1845 at the Hoftheater Altenburg , then was engaged in Königsberg, Bremen, Cologne and finally Schwerin, where he worked first as an actor and bon vivant until 1887 , later in the field of character roles and batches . Three sons from his marriage to Rosa Otto-Martineck also devoted themselves to acting, two of them were Alexander and Julius Otto .

Wilhelm Otto has also made a name for himself as a trade unionist; he was one of the founders of the German Stage Members' Cooperative .
