Wilhelm Pichler (priest)
Wilhelm Pichler (born May 11, 1862 in Großkrut ; † March 3, 1938 in Vienna ) was a Roman Catholic priest and religious educator.
life and work
Wilhelm Pichler studied Catholic theology in Vienna (1880–82 and 1884–87) and at the Collegium Germanicum in Rome (1882–84) and was ordained a priest in 1887 . From 1903 he worked as a catechist in Vienna. He built his religious didactics on the teachings of Otto Willmann . With his work Catholic Religious Booklet for the lower classes , introduced in 1931 , the content of religious instruction was reformed.
The Catholic Catechism of the Dioceses of Germany , developed in 1955 on behalf of the German bishops by Klemens Tilmann (1904–1984) and Franz Schreibmayr (1907–1985), followed the didactic catechisms of Heinrich Stieglitz and Wilhelm Pichler.
