Wilhelm Pralle (oologist)

Wilhelm Pralle (born September 28, 1810 in Lüneburg , † October 10, 1881 in Hanover ) was a German civil servant, post director, ornithologist and oologist .

Life

Wilhelm Pralle, who was born in Lüneburg during the so-called French era, worked in the Kingdom of Hanover as a post office clerk in Celle . He was the owner of a collection of birds' eggs and a collection of stuffed birds.

From 1858 Pralle lived temporarily in the then royal seat of Hanover. By the end of the 1850s at the latest, he was a member of the board of the Natural History Society in Hanover .

In 1860 Pralle went to Hildesheim and worked there as a postal director. Also in Hildesheim, he managed the bird collection in the Roemer Museum . He bequeathed his egg collection to this institution.

From 1877 the retired civil servant spent his retirement in Hanover.

Wilhelm Pralle was married to Molly, nee Greve. Her son and only child was the forest candidate and officer candidate from the 3rd Hessian Infantry Regiment number 83 Albrecht Pralle (born August 5, 1846 in Celle). He was killed in the Franco-Prussian War in the Battle of Wörth on August 6, 1870. He is buried in a listed collective grave with an obelisk and an iron grave cross near the war graves at the Wörth municipal cemetery .
