Wilhelm Rudolf Weitenweber
Wilhelm Rudolf Weitenweber (born October 1, 1804 in Prague ; † April 1, 1870 there ) was a Bohemian medical historian and doctor.
Life
Weitenweber studied medicine in Prague and Vienna and received his doctorate in Vienna in 1830 (dissertation: Synopsis nosologica febrium et phlegmatiarum juxta Swediauri Ἰατριϰὴν disposita ). After that he was a doctor in Elbogen for three years before settling down as a doctor in Prague.
He published on the history of medicine, especially from Prague, and in 1837 founded the journal Contributions to the Entire Natural and Medical Science , which appeared in five volumes until 1840 and then continued in 1841/42 as New Articles on Medicine and Surgery . He was also a co-founder of the science journal Lotos .
For several years he was a historiographer at the Medical Faculty in Prague.
Many biographies come from him in the negotiations of the royal Bohemian society and he also published about the history of the Leopoldina , about coffee and Marsilius Ficinus . Among other things, he published a biography of the doctor Johann Theobald Held .
Honors
In 1837 he was elected a member of the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina .
