Wilhelm Sauer (sculptor)
Wilhelm Sauer (born September 23, 1865 in Adelshofen , † March 20, 1929 in Durlach ) was a German sculptor .
Life
The trained carpenter initially worked as a wood sculptor . He later studied at the Karlsruhe Art Academy , where he became a student of Hermann Volz , with whom he stayed for ten years until 1896. In 1903 he went on study trips to Paris and then to Rome, where he also worked with Joseph von Kopf . From 1909 he was a teacher for modeling at the painters' school in Karlsruhe . From 1903 to 1915 he also created designs for the Karlsruhe majolica factory.
