Wilhelm Schößler (born February 22, 1884 in Ober Waldenburg , † March 14, 1955 in Gladbeck ) was a German trade unionist and politician ( SPD ).

Life

Wilhelm Schößler was born the son of a miner. After attending primary school, he completed an apprenticeship as a carpenter, then went on a hike and then worked as a carpenter in various places in Germany. From 1904 to 1906 he did military service with Infantry Regiment No. 17 and from 1914 to 1918 he took part in the First World War as a soldier . During the war he was deployed to France , Romania and Galicia , wounded in November 1916 and awarded the Iron Cross . After the war he worked as a carpenter in Waldenburg-Altwasser . From 1930 to 1933 he worked as an office clerk for the district committee in Waldenburg .

Schößler joined the SPD in 1902 and became a member of the woodworkers' association in the same year . From 1908 to 1933, with brief interruptions, he was chairman of the SPD and chairman of the branch of the woodworkers' association in Waldenburg. Since 1928 he was a board member of the SPD in the Waldenburg district . He also acted as a partner in the Silesian Mountain Rescue Service , for which he also wrote articles. From 1924 to 1928 he was a city ​​councilor and from 1928 to 1933 an honorary (unpaid) city ​​councilor in Waldenburg. On December 27, 1929, he moved up as a member of the Prussian state parliament via the state list , to which he was a member until 1933.

During the time of National Socialism Schößler was imprisoned from March to December 1934 in the prisons in Waldenburg, Schweidnitz and Breslau . In June 1946 he was expelled from Silesia . He moved to the British zone of occupation and settled in the Ruhr area. From 1946 to 1947 he was party secretary of the SPD in Gelsenkirchen .
