Wilhelm Snow

Wilhelm Schnee (born October 2, 1908 in Marburg , † June 21, 1978 ) was a German administrative lawyer and district administrator for the Schwaz district in Tyrol .

Life and work

After graduating from high school, Schnee began studying law at the University of Marburg , which he successfully completed with the first state examination. This was followed by the second state examination after the legal clerkship. During his studies he was active in the Corps Irminsul , of which he belonged until his death.

After the exams, the native of Hesse entered the service of the Hessian administration until he was seconded to the regional authority in Tyrol in 1938 .

Two years later, in 1940, he was appointed district administrator there, which he remained until 1944/45.

Only drafted a year before the end of the war, he still took part in the heavy fighting in Upper Silesia and was captured by the Soviets after the surrender. Due to a serious illness, he was released in 1946 and bridged the post-war years by working in law firms and industrial companies.

From 1952 he was back in public administration, most recently as government director at the Federal Audit Office in Frankfurt a. M.

After his retirement, Schnee was still active as a data protection officer in a leading position in the industry for over four years from 1973 - u. a. in the Committee for Economic Management in Business and Public Sector and five years as head of the working group “Data Protection and Data Protection” in the AWV. He died of the incurable long-term effects of the illness from captivity on June 21, 1978.
