Wilhelm Schneider (born January 13, 1913 in Niederburg ; † February 6, 1995 in Oberwesel ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Life

Schneider attended elementary school until 1927 and then completed an apprenticeship in navigation on the Rhine . After the outbreak of World War II , he was drafted into the Wehrmacht and served in the military from 1939 to 1941 and from 1943 to 1944.

After the end of the war, Schneider worked as an employee in the administration of the city of Oberwesel from 1945. In 1950 he passed the first administrative examination.

In addition to his professional activity, Schneider worked from 1947 as chairman of the AOK district association Sankt Goar and from 1953 as a board member of the AOK associations for the administrative districts of Koblenz and Montabaur . In addition, from 1953 he was chairman of the VdK district association Sankt Goar.

Schneider joined the SPD in 1929 and after 1945 took part in the rebuilding of the party in the Sankt Goar district. He was involved in local politics and was councilor of the city of Oberwesel from 1948 to 1952. He was also a member of the district council in the Sankt Goar district and from 1957 chairman of the SPD parliamentary group. He was a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament from May 1, 1958, when he replaced the late MP Wilhelm Maschke on the SPD's state list , until the end of the third legislative period in May 1959 .
