Wilhelm Schorcht

Wilhelm Ernst Carl August Schorcht (born July 13, 1826 in Bremen ; † July 28, 1885 in Harburg , today Hamburg ) was Mayor of Harburg from 1883 until his death .

Life

Wilhelm Schorcht studied law and after a three-year legal traineeship in Harburg passed his second state examination at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen in Göttingen . After graduating, he worked as a senior court attorney in the Hanseatic city of Lüneburg . In 1853 he filled the position of the city syndic in Harburg on the Elbe. In 1855 Wilhelm Schorcht applied for the office of mayor of Harburg. In this election, Wilhelm Schorcht was defeated by August Grumbrecht . Schorcht took over the office of mayor in 1883, which he held until his death (1885).

Honors

In 1927 Schorchtstrasse was named after him.
