Wilhelm Speiser

Wilhelm Speiser (born August 2, 1838 in Jesingen ; † February 7, 1927 in Göppingen ) was an agricultural machinery manufacturer and a member of the German Reichstag .

Life

Speiser attended secondary school in Kirchheim unter Teck and completed an apprenticeship as a blacksmith and a commercial apprenticeship. In 1864 he joined the Friedrich Rapp company in Göppingen as a partner for the manufacture of agricultural machines. In 1874 he founded his own company for the production of agricultural machinery and equipment with its own iron foundry, which in 1910 had a workforce of 500 workers. The management of the company passed to his sons Hermann and Heinrich, the company existed until 1970 when it was sold to the Claas company. In addition, W. Speiser was city councilor for two years and municipal councilor in Göppingen for six years.

From 1890 to 1898 he was a member of the German Reichstag for the constituency of Württemberg 10 ( Gmünd , Göppingen , Welzheim , Schorndorf ) and the German People's Party .
