Wilhelm stone houses (* 9. April 1817 in Bremen , † 5. May 1903 in Bremen) was a German painter of Classicism from Bremen.

biography

Steinhäuser was the son of a wood carver and sculptor from southern Germany who ran a mirror frame shop in Bremen at 41 Sögestraße . The sculptors Adolph Steinhäuser and Carl Steinhäuser were his brothers. With his brother Carl he traveled to Rome in 1835 for a longer stay . He turned to painting, creating portraits and historical pictures. From 1841 he stayed in Bremen again. He exhibited his pictures and painted in Bremen, then in 1843 in Munich and Rome and from 1848 in Belgium and Paris . From 1860 he was a drawing teacher for budding artists and craftsmen in Bremen. He lived with his family.
