Wilhelm Wiegand (born November 5, 1851 in Ellrich in the Harz , † March 8, 1915 in Strasbourg ) was archivist and professor of history and member of the first chamber of the state parliament of Alsace-Lorraine .

Wilhelm Wiegand attended grammar school in Glogau , studied history from 1870 to 1874 at the universities of Berlin , Leipzig and Strasbourg. In Leipzig he became a member of the Arminia fraternity . In 1876 he took over the publication of the document book of the city of Strasbourg. In 1878 he completed his habilitation and was appointed private lecturer at the University of Strasbourg. His research interests as a historian were Alsatian history and Frederick the Great .

In 1879 he became director of the Lower Alsace district archive, in 1890 honorary professor and in 1906 full professor.

He was second chairman of the Red Cross in Alsace-Lorraine.

In 1911 Wilhelm Wiegand was appointed by the Reich University of Strasbourg as a member of the first chamber of the Landtag of the Reichsland Alsace-Lorraine.
