Wilhelm Willige

Wilhelm Willige (born August 8, 1890 in Dresden , † September 21, 1963 in Wuppertal ) was a German high school teacher (Germanist, classical philologist) and translator.

Willige received his doctorate in Leipzig in 1915 . He worked as a teacher (teacher) in Bautzen , Worms and Wuppertal. In addition to Greek and Latin, he translated from French and Middle High German. He translated, among others, Jean Racine , Ovid (letters from exile), Tibullus , Properz and Sophocles (dramas).

Part of his estate (including poems) is in the Heinrich Heine Institute in Düsseldorf.
