Wilhelm Wittenbruch

Wilhelm Wittenbruch (* 1936 in Solingen ) is a German teacher and emeritus professor of educational science at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster .

Life

After studying at the Pedagogical Academy in Cologne , Wittenbruch initially worked for ten years as a school teacher at elementary and secondary schools. He completed a second degree at the University of Cologne in 1971 with a doctorate under Clemens Menze on Wilhelm Rein's pedagogy . Wittenbruch worked both as a scientific assistant and as a scientific advisor and professor at the Duisburg University. In 1976 he was appointed full professor at the University of Education Westphalia-Lippe , Münster department, today Münster University - Institute for Educational Sciences. He has been an emeritus member of the institute since 2001 .

Wilhelm Wittenbruch is married and has three children.

Research priorities

Wittenbruch's field of work is primarily the pedagogy of the school , in which he also wrote his most important publications. They deal with the history of schools, the theory and practice of school life, teacher training, the theory and practice of independent schools as well as the scientific support of schools. Further research focuses on primary school education and the European dimension of curricula and teaching. In addition to his book publications, numerous essays and reviews, including a. published by him in the magazines “ Pädagogische Rundschau ”, “Engagement” and “Katholische Bildung” as well as in the quarterly journal for scientific pedagogy . Together with Rudolf Biermann and Stephanie Hellekamps, he published the series “Studies on School Pedagogy” with over 38 volumes.
