Wilhelm Dedo von Krosigk (born November 20, 1871 in Ballenstedt , † August 12, 1953 in Kummerfeld ) was a German rear admiral .

Life

family

Wilhelm came from the Krosigk family . He was the third son of Wilhelm Friedrich Ernst von Krosigk (1829–1889) and his wife Luise, born von Thielau (1836–1887). Dietrich von Krosigk (1865–1932) was one of Wilhelm's brothers. Admiral Günther von Krosigk (1860–1938) was united by their great-grandfather, the royal Prussian war councilor Ferdinand Anton von Krosigk (1743–1805).

Wilhelm married Antoinette von Bülow (* 1882).

Military career

Krosigk joined the Imperial Navy as a cadet on April 13, 1889 . Among other things, he commanded the steam yacht SMS Loreley from the end of September 1905 to September 1906 as a lieutenant captain . From September 30, 1908, Krosigk served for three years as an adjutant in the staff of the North Sea naval station and then became the commander of the small cruiser SMS Stettin . In this role he was promoted to sea captain on March 8, 1913 . After Krosigk had given up his command, he was at the disposal of the chief of the Baltic Sea Naval Station until shortly after the outbreak of the First World War . He then commanded the large cruiser SMS Prinz Heinrich , was in command of the 1st Sailors Division from March 28, 1916 to May 31, 1917 and then in command of the large-scale ship SMS Posen until the end of the war .
