Wilhelm Rapp , from 1837 von Rapp , (born June 3, 1794 in Stuttgart , † November 11, 1868 in Tübingen ) was a German physician and professor at the University of Tübingen .

Life

Wilhelm Rapp studied from 1813 and became a doctor in Tübingen in 1817. From 1819 to 1827 he was associate professor and from 1827 to 1856 full professor of medicine at the University of Tübingen (anatomy of humans and animals, since 1844 zoology and zootomy ). In 1844 he was instrumental in founding the Association for Patriotic Natural History in Württemberg in Stuttgart . His portrait, painted by Franz Seraph Stirnbrand in 1858 , hangs in the professors' gallery in Tübingen .

Awards and memberships

In 1825 he was elected a member of the Leopoldina . In 1837 he was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Order of the Württemberg Crown excellent, which with the personal title of nobility ( ennoblement ) was associated.
