Wilhelmine Clauss-Szarvady
Wilhelmine Clauss-Szarvady ( née Clauss ) (born December 12, 1832 in Prague , † September 2, 1907 in Paris ) was a Bohemian-French pianist .
Life
She studied piano with Josef Proksch in Prague . In 1849 she made her debut in Prague . In 1855 she married the Hungarian journalist and diplomat Frigyes Szarvady (1822–1882) ( Germanized Friedrich Szarvady ) and has lived with him in Paris ever since. From there she traveled all over Europe as a sought-after concert pianist, so she gave annual concerts in England from 1852 to 1886. She was considered a specialist in Scarlatti, Bach and Beethoven, and was praised as a pianist by the contemporary composers Berlioz , Liszt and Schumann . In 1870, Joachim Raff dedicated his Piano Trio No. 3 Op. 155.
