Willi Döring (born December 5, 1924 in Gieboldehausen , Duderstadt district; † May 21, 1997 there ) was a German politician ( CDU ).

Life

Willi Döring attended elementary school and then completed a commercial apprenticeship in Duderstadt. Since 1942 he was a soldier in World War II and was wounded. In 1944 he was taken prisoner of war, from which he was released in 1946. After his dismissal he worked until 1948 and then became an independent businessman in Gieboldehausen in 1948.

Döring had been a member of the CDU since 1952 and was local chairman for seventeen years. In 1979 Döring was made honorary chairman. Between 1980 and 1985 he was chairman of the CDU district association in Hildesheim . From 1980 to 1986 he was a member of the board of the CDU in Lower Saxony . He was also a member of the board of trustees of the Harzwasserwerke . Between 1952 and 1981 he was a councilor and between 1964 and 1981 he was the mayor of the community of Gieboldehausen. Since 1984 he has been honorary mayor in Gieboldehausen. Between 1956 and 1972 he was a member of the district council and between 1963 and 1972 the district administrator of the Duderstadt district . After the territorial reform, Döring became a member of the district council of the Göttingen district in 1973 ; between 1973 and 1976 and from 1981 he was district administrator of the district of Göttingen.

In the 6th to 12th electoral term, from 1967 to 1994, he was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament . From 1978 to 1990 he was chairman of the committee for displaced persons, refugees and resettlers as well as questions about the border area.

Awards

Döring was a holder of the Great Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Lower Saxony Order of Merit, 1st class. He was also an honorary citizen of Gieboldehausen.
