Jorge Anders

Jorge Anders (* 18th April 1939 in Buenos Aires as Jorge Etzensberger ) is from Argentina originating in the United States living jazz musician ( clarinet , tenor saxophone ), bandleader and arranger.

Jorge Anders' father was a classical violinist who played in various European orchestras before coming to Argentina in 1936. Anders studied classical clarinet playing with Eliseo Rosas in Buenos Aires and taught himself to play the saxophone. In 1956 he founded his own trio and quartet; In 1964 the first recordings were made with the Santiago Giacobbe Quintet. He then played with Rodolfo Alchourron and Alfredo Remus before moving to New York City in 1979 , where he has lived and worked ever since. He arranged for the orchestras of Machito , Mousey Alexander, Mel Lewis and Mercer Ellington . From 1980 to 1986 he recorded with Butch Miles ; from 1982 to 1987 he was clarinet soloist in the Duke Ellington Orchestra under Mercer Ellington's direction. Since 1985 he has performed with his own big band , u. a. at the New York Swing Society at the Cat Club in 1987 and recorded an album at Jazz Workshop .
