Willi Eggers

Willi Eggers (born April 2, 1911 in Hamburg , † May 25, 1979 in Soltau ) was a German author of Low German stories and poems and chairman of the Freudenthal Society .

Life

Eggers grew up in Hamburg and Wietzendorf . He studied philology in Hamburg and Marburg . He received his doctorate from the University of Hamburg in 1936 and then worked as a research assistant and teacher. During the Second World War he served as a soldier and in 1945 was taken prisoner by the Soviets, where he remained until 1950. In 1950 he returned to Germany and became a teacher at the Soltau grammar school . In 1979 he died in Soltau.
