Willi Grapentin

Willi Paul Martin Grapentin (born July 27, 1904 in Mariendorf near Berlin ; † March 23, 1994 ) was a German trade unionist . He was chairman of the central board of the printing and paper industry union in the Free German Trade Union Federation (FDGB).

Life

Grapentin, son of the locksmith Heinrich Friedrich Wilhelm Grapentin and his wife Frieda Ida Karoline Grapentin (née Wegener), attended elementary and vocational school . He completed an apprenticeship as an electroplater and stereotypist and then worked in this profession. In 1918 he joined the Association of German Book Printers . In 1926 he married his wife Waltdraut, née Jackstädt, in Mariendorf. He later joined the KJVD before joining the KPD in 1931 .

After the " seizure of power " by the National Socialists, he resisted in Berlin and was temporarily imprisoned. In 1941 he became a conscientious in the Wehrmacht confiscated and became 1945 in Polish captivity .

After his return to Berlin in 1945, he became first chairman of the FDGB district committee Berlin-Tempelhof . In 1946 he joined the SED . From April 1949 to March 1951 he acted as chairman of the central board of IG Druck und Papier. From May 1950 to June 1955 he was a member of the federal executive committee of the FDGB. Afterwards he was head of the Labor Department in the Ministry of Light Industry and sector head in the Committee or State Secretariat for Labor and Wages. Until 1969 he worked as director of the company vocational school " Rudi Arndt ", the training center of the Berlin polygraphic industry. Most recently he lived as a veteran in Berlin-Adlershof .
