career

2nd League West near Düren 99, until 1955

Willi Krämer played with the black and reds of SG Düren 99 from 1950 to 1955 in the second division of the 2nd division West. After promotion in 1950, the 20-year-old completed 29 league games as a regular player in the first season in the 2nd League West (Group 2), 1950/51, and scored eleven goals. The team from the Westkampfbahn took 11th place. Among other things, the outside runner gained five rounds of playing experience in the 2nd division West alongside the later national player Georg Stollenwerk and under coach Fritz Langner and came to 131 second division appearances with 17 goals for Düren. In addition to the league, the cup game on August 2, 1954 against 1. FC Kaiserslautern stood out. In the 2: 5 home defeat in front of 15,000 spectators, 1. FCK competed with all five world champions from 1954 in Switzerland : Fritz Walter , Ottmar Walter , Horst Eckel , Werner Liebrich and Werner Kohlmeyer . For the 1955/56 season, Willi Krämer signed a contract with the western league club Alemannia Aachen and switched to the black and yellow from Tivoli .

Alemannia Aachen, 1955 to 1962

On August 27, 1955, in a 2: 4 away defeat at Prussia Dellbrück , the debut for Aachen in the Oberliga West. He ran in his traditional position as a left wing runner. After the first half of the season, coach Georg Knöpfle's team had scored 21: 9 and played an excellent round overall. Right away, Krämer was one of the top performers on the defensive alongside teammates like Helmut Schiffer (goalkeeper), Johannes Coenen, Herbert Metzen, Gerhard Richter and Fred Jansen . Krämer and colleagues finished the round with 41:19 points and ended up tied with runner-up FC Schalke 04 in third place. Krämer missed by the air with the Alemannia, he had played all 30 league games and scored three goals, thus making it into the finals of the German football championship. In his second season, 1956/57, his team finished fifth and he had again scored four goals in 30 league games.

The “potato beetles” began their third year in the shop in 1957/58 with a dream start: after nine match days, Aachen had 18: 0 points and led the table. Alemannia ended the first half of the season with 23: 7 points as autumn champions, one point ahead of Schalke 04. In the second half of the season, the Knöpfle team lost 4-0 at Schalke 04 on February 9, 1958 and at the end of the round they landed on the ungrateful 3 . Rank. Again, Willi Krämer, who was constantly on the lookout for his performance, had played all 30 league games (3 goals) and only allowed 38 goals against in the defensive network. The offensive around Jupp Martinelli , Herbert Krisp , Michael Pfeiffer and Matthias Roßbach , on the other hand, with 47 rounds, could not compete with the most dangerous attack series (Schalke and 1. FC Köln : 74 goals each) in the Oberliga West. Under Knöpfle's successor Béla Sárosi , Aachen sank in 1958/59 with 10th place in the rear midfield. Krämer didn't miss a league game in the fourth round in a row (30-1); from 1955 to 1959 he was able to show 120 league appearances. In the last three rounds at Aachen he could no longer achieve this balance; by 1962 there were still 47 league games with four goals. Aachen did not play for the first place in the table in the last few years of the old first-class league. With the game on March 31, 1962 at Preußen Münster (1: 3), his career in the Oberliga West ended.

Selection appointments

On December 15, 1957, Krämer and Aachen won 3-0 against Fortuna Düsseldorf in the Oberliga West and Alemannia led the table with 27: 7 points. On December 21, the man from Düren was part of the German national B team, who managed a 2-2 draw against Hungary in Budapest. Before goalkeeper Günter Sawitzki , he formed the German runner row together with Karl Borutta and Hermann Laag . Club colleague Pfeiffer scored both goals of the DFB-Elf. There were no further selections for Krämer.

Finished off as an amateur in Düren

Krämer returned for the 1962/63 season to SG Düren in the Mittelrhein Association League . He was able to celebrate the championship twice with the black-reds: 1962/63 and 1965/66. After his playing career, the fruit and vegetable wholesaler worked as a trainer for SW Düren and Borussia Buir.
