Willi Krieger

Willi Krieger (born April 22, 1942 ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

Krieger began playing football at SG Düren 99 and, at the age of 19, moved to Alemannia Aachen in the second-class Regionalliga West , to which he was a midfielder until the end of the 1966/67 season . When Alemannia Aachen emerged as the winner of the Regionalliga West in 1964, however, he was not yet used in the league game; however, in three games of group 2 of the promotion round to - since 1963 newly created - Bundesliga as the highest German division. Only in the following season he was used in 23 point games, in which he scored two goals. He crowned his debut on August 16, 1964 (2nd match day) in a 4-0 win at home against Eintracht Duisburg with his first goal, the 1-0 goal in the 23rd minute. Since the season under coach Oswald Pfau was finished second behind Borussia Mönchengladbach , he again took part in the promotion round to the Bundesliga in Group 2 . In five out of six games he was used, but finished with his team only third place out of four participating teams. A renewed participation was possible in his last regional league season, as Alemannia Aachen completed this again as champions. Once again assigned to group 2 , this was concluded as a winner, in which he contributed in two games. In the Bundesliga season 1967/68 , when Alemannia Aachen was able to keep the class in eleventh place, he was not used.

For Alemannia Aachen he was also used in seven games in the DFB-Pokal competition. He made his debut on January 16, 1965 in a 3-1 first-round victory over VfL Osnabrück . After winning the quarter-finals 2-1 over Hannover 96 on February 27th , he reached the semi-finals, which were won 4-3 on April 17th after extra time against FC Schalke 04 . The final against Borussia Dortmund , held on May 22nd in Hanover in front of 55,000 spectators, was lost 2-0. He played his last three cup games on January 14, 1967 in a 1-1 draw against FK Pirmasens in the first round , on March 25 in a 3-1 win against Borussia Neunkirchen in the quarter-finals and on May 6 in the 1 : 3 defeat in the semifinals against Hamburger SV .

He played his last season as an active soccer player in 1968/69 for Bonner SC in the Regionalliga West, in which the club was promoted to champions of the Mittelrhein Association League .
