Willi Schrot

Wilhelm "Willi" Schrot (born January 12, 1915 in Wittlich ; † February 27, 2016 ) was a German politician ( CDU ).

Life and work

Schrot was born as the son of the master blacksmith, later the city council ( German Center Party ) and founding member of the Rhineland-Palatinate CDU, Wilhelm Schrot sen. born. After attending high school and high school in 1932, he completed an apprenticeship as a locksmith and worked in this profession from 1935. He served in the Wehrmacht in 1937/38 and attended the engineering school for mechanical engineering in Bingen in 1939. From 1939 to 1945 he took part in the Second World War as a soldier , most recently as Fahnenjunker-Oberfeldwebel .

Schrot passed the examination as a master locksmith in 1947 and started working in his parents' company in the same year, which he took over in 1950. He later became deputy head master and deputy district master craftsman.

Political party

Schrot joined the CDU in 1947 and was elected chairman of the CDU district association Wittlich in 1966.

MP

Schrot was from 1953 to 1979 a member of the district council of the Wittlich district and the Bernkastel-Wittlich district , where he had been chairman of the CDU parliamentary group since 1957, with interruptions. He was a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament from 1967 to 1979.
