Willi Schultz (politician)

Willi Schultz (born July 23, 1896 in Berlin ; † March 12, 1961 in Fürstenberg / Havel ) was a German politician ( KPD / SED ). He was a member of the state parliament of the Free State of Mecklenburg-Strelitz .

Life

Schultz, son of a head waiter , learned the profession of plasterer . In 1916 he was drafted as a soldier for military service in the First World War.

In 1918 he joined the USPD and in 1920 the KPD. In 1919 he moved to Fürstenberg / Havel and from 1923 headed the local KPD group there. In May 1924 he was arrested and in August 1925 by the Supreme Court to two years and three months prison convicted. In 1926 he was elected city councilor and was chairman of the KPD parliamentary group in Fürstenberg until 1933. Due to the Hindenburg amnesty , he was released early at the end of 1925. Schultz was elected a member of the state parliament of Mecklenburg-Strelitz in 1928. He was also a member of the KPD district leadership in Mecklenburg.

After the National Socialists ' seizure of power ' in 1933, the three state parliament members of the KPD, Schultz, Fritz Brack and Adolf Giese, were deprived of their legal mandates. In March 1933, Schultz was arrested and imprisoned in the Oranienburg concentration camp . He was released in November 1933 after eight months of “ protective custody ”. After his release, he worked as a construction worker. In 1939 he was called up for military service in the Wehrmacht , and in 1942 he was forced to join the Todt Organization .

After the end of the war he rejoined the KPD in June 1945 and became a member of the SED in 1946. He was a functionary for both parties. From 1948 to 1950 he acted as second secretary of the SED Neustrelitz , later he was an employee of the council of the Neustrelitz district .
