William Allen Sipe

William Allen Sipe (born July 1, 1844 in Harrisonville , Fulton County , Pennsylvania , †  September 10, 1935 in San Diego , California ) was an American politician . Between 1892 and 1895 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

William Sipe attended public schools in his home country and then the Cassville Academy . In 1862 he joined during the Civil War in the army of the Union one. In the same year he had to quit his military service because of an injury. After studying law and being admitted to the bar in 1865, he began to work in this profession in Huntingdon . In January 1867 he moved to Indianapolis , Indiana and in December 1868 to Pittsburgh . He practiced as a lawyer in both cities. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Democratic Party .

After the death of MP Alexander Kerr Craig , Sipe was elected as his successor to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , where he took up his new mandate on December 5, 1892, at the by-election for the 24th seat of Pennsylvania . After being re-elected, he could remain in Congress until March 3, 1895 . In 1894 he was not re-confirmed.

After the end of his time in the US House of Representatives, William Sipe was again active as a lawyer in Pittsburgh until 1921. He then retired, which he spent in San Diego. He died there on September 10, 1935 at the age of 91. He was buried in Pittsburgh.
