William E. Cochrane

William Eugene Cochrane (born January 30, 1926 in Hollywood , California ; died March 4, 1993 in San Luis Obispo , California) was an American science fiction writer.

Cochrane published his first story How High on the Ladder? 1950 under the pseudonym Leo Paige . It was not until 20 years later that another story appeared, A Little Edge , now under the name S. Kye Bolt , inspired by his work at Douglas Aircraft and their Skybolt air-to-air missile , which he also used in the following years. From 1973 he published under his own name. The stories written as S. Kye Bolt and the novel Solo Kill (1977) are space operas . The short stories appeared in Analog magazine .

The novel Class Six Climb , published in 1980, is about "tree climbers" who climb giant, kilometer-high trees on a distant planet.
