Giorgos Mouratidis

Giorgos Mouratidis (* 1927 in Thessaloniki ; † April 30, 2013 ) was a Greek football player .

Athletic career

Mouratidis began his career with Apollon Kalamarias . In 1947 the midfielder moved to PAOK Thessaloniki in the Alpha Ethniki , the highest league in Greek football. There he was promoted to national team, in November 1948 he came as a substitute in the 1: 2 defeat against Turkey to his international debut for the Greek national team . At the same time, he won the regional championship at club level in 1948 and 1950, but the team had no chance in the Greek championship.

In 1951 Mouratidis moved to the capital club AEK Athens , which, however, was also overshadowed by the teams from Olympiacos Piraeus and Athens local rivals Panathinaikos , which dominated the championship at the time . In March 1954, almost three years after his last international match, he came again to his eighth and last game for the national team as part of qualifying for the 1954 World Cup finals , with a 0-1 defeat in a direct comparison with Yugoslavia for the group victory , he missed the Participation in the tournament held in Switzerland. At least until 1955 he played for AEK in the Greek championship.
