William Hare, 3rd Earl of Listowel

William Hare, 3rd Earl of Listowel (born May 29, 1833 - † June 5, 1924 ) was an Anglo-Irish peer and liberal politician . From 1837 to 1856 he carried the courtesy title Viscount Ennismore .

Life

He is the eldest son of William Hare, 2nd Earl of Listowel , and his wife Maria Augusta Windham. He graduated from Eton College . When his father died in 1856, he inherited his title of nobility.

In 1869 the hereditary title Baron Hare , of Connamore in the County of Cork , was created for him in the Peerage of the United Kingdom . In contrast to his inherited titles, all of which belong to the Peerage of Ireland , this title was linked to an automatic seat in the House of Lords . During the second government of Prime Minister William Ewart Gladstone , he temporarily served in the House of Lords in 1880 as a whip of the government (Lord-in-Waiting). In 1873 he was accepted as a Knight Companion in the Order of St. Patrick .

Marriage and offspring

On August 31, 1865 he married Ernestine Mary Brudenell-Bruce, daughter of Ernest Brudenell-Bruce, 3rd Marquess of Ailesbury . He had four children with her:
