William Harrison Dimmick (1859)

William Harrison Dimmick (born December 20, 1815 in Milford , Pike County , Pennsylvania , †  August 2, 1861 in Honesdale , Pennsylvania) was an American politician . Between 1857 and 1861 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

William Dimmick was the younger brother of Congressman Milo Melankthon Dimmick (1811–1872). He attended private schools. After completing a law degree and being admitted to the bar in 1835, he began to work in this profession in Bethany . In 1842 he moved his residence and law firm to Honesdale. In 1836 and 1837 he was a prosecutor in Wayne County . At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Democratic Party . He served in the Pennsylvania Senate from 1845 to 1847 .

In the congressional elections of 1856 Dimmick was in the 13th  electoral district of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC chosen, where he succeeds on March 4, 1857 Asa Packer took. After being re-elected, he was able to complete two legislative terms in Congress until March 3, 1861 . These were shaped by the events in the immediate run-up to the civil war .

After the end of his time in the US House of Representatives, William Dimmick practiced again as a lawyer. He died in Honesdale on August 2, 1861.
