William Hart (painter)
William Hart (born March 31, 1823 in Paisley , Strathclyde , Scotland, † June 17, 1894 in Mount Vernon , New York , USA) was a Scottish-American landscape and animal painter .
William Hart, brother of James Hart , moved with his parents to the USA in Albany (New York) in 1831 and worked as a car painter until his artistic talent broke through and he first began to paint portraits.
After taking a study tour through the picturesque areas of his home country, he settled in New York in 1853 and devoted himself to watercolor painting .
In 1858 he became a member of the local art academy, was president of the drawing academy in Brooklyn from 1865 for a few years and from 1870 to 1873 president of the society for watercolor painting.
