William Henry Hunt (painter)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

William Henry Hunt (born March 28, 1790 in London , † February 10, 1864 ibid) was an English painter .

Hunt entered the London Academy in 1808 after taking lessons from John Varley and initially exhibited oil paintings, but from 1814 mostly watercolors. In 1827 he became a member of the Society of Painters in Water Colors . His creativity was great. Often you saw 20 to 30 works by him on display at the same time: interiors, genre pictures, still lifes, portraits. At the beginning of his career still unsure of watercolor, he developed his talent to brilliant heights and with great natural truth did justice to all genres he treated. Sickly from youth, he spent much of his time in Hastings and died in London on February 10, 1864.

His watercolors from Chatsworth House in Derbyshire are well known .
