William Henry Whitbread

William Henry Whitbread (born January 4, 1795 - June 21, 1867 in Southill ) was a British politician.

Life

William Henry Whitbread was the eldest son of Samuel Whitbread and his wife Elizabeth (nee Gray). He grew up with a younger brother, Samuel Charles Whitbread , and two sisters. Through his mother he was related to the Earls Gray .

William Henry Whitbread attended Eton College , and then Trinity College at the University of Cambridge . From 1818 to 1834 he represented the constituency of Bedford in the House of Commons. In the past, his father and grandfather had already represented this constituency in the lower house. In 1819 he and his brother became a partner in the brewery that their grandfather had founded . From 1837 to 1838 he held the office of High Sheriff of Bedfordshire .

On June 10, 1819, he married Judith Pigott († June 25, 1845). After her death he married Harriet Sneyd on November 6, 1845. Both marriages remained childless. He bequeathed his shares in the brewery to his nephew Samuel Whitbread .
