William Kircher (born May 23, 1958 ) is a New Zealand actor and film producer .

Life

Kircher completed an acting training at the New Zealand Drama School, which he graduated with 18 years. Since then he has appeared in over 100 professional theater productions. At the same time his career as an actor in film and television began. In New Zealand he was best known for his role in the Shark in the Park police series.

In the late 1990s, Kircher concentrated increasingly on film production. He worked as a producer for Raymond Thompson's film and television studio Cloud 9 Screen Entertainment, where he was involved in developing shows for New Zealand audiences. In 1999 he took over the management of the advertising film department at Cloud 9 and produced, among other things, an award-winning short film. He later became a manager in public relations, media and communications. In 2003 he founded the production company ScreenAdventures together with his long-time friend Michael Hurst and Geoff Husson.

In 2006, Kircher returned to the big screen and played the cop Stewart Guthrie in the drama Out of the Blue , which is based on the Aramoana killing spree . From 2009 he produced the TV docu-drama The Investigator for Red Sky Film & Television for 15 months . In December 2010 it was announced that Kircher would portray the dwarf Bifur in Peter Jackson's major project The Hobbit .
