William Moore (musician)

William "Bill" Moore (born March 3, 1893 in Dover , Georgia , † November 22, 1951 in Warrenton , Virginia ) was an African-American blues singer and guitarist.

He was recorded as the only country blues singer from Virginia in 1928 in Chicago for the Paramount record label . His 78 rpm records are in great demand with collectors, and his repertoire, a total of eight songs, preserved on recordings, has been re-released on a large number of LP and CD samplers . His compositions (e.g. Ragtime Millionaire , Old Country Rock , One Way Gal ) have been covered by a number of musicians, including Dave "Snaker" Ray , John Fahey , Stefan Grossman and Duck Baker , The Insect Trust , The Notting Hillbillies .
