William Murphy (boxer)
William James "Boy" Murphy (born March 25, 1904 in Cork , County Cork , † unknown) was an Irish boxer.
Murphy took the first time in 1924 at the Summer Olympics in Paris as a middleweight boxer in part. However, he was eliminated in the quarterfinals when he lost to Canadian Leslie Black . In the next 1928 Summer Olympics in Amsterdam , he joined in the weight class to light heavyweight. This time he did not get past the quarter-finals either.
Murphy last appeared in Los Angeles in 1932 . As in 1928 in the light heavyweight division. In the battle for bronze, however, he had to admit defeat to the Dane Peter Jørgensen .
