William Palmer
William Palmer (born August 6, 1824 in Rugeley , Staffordshire , England , † June 14, 1856 in Stafford ) was a doctor by profession and was known as a serial killer.
He was convicted and publicly executed for the murder of his friend John Parsons Cook . It is said that Cook was poisoned with strychnine . Due to the great publicity, there were fears that Staffordshire would not find an independent jury. A law was passed specifically to move the jurisdiction to London .
Palmer has been charged with a number of other poisonings, including the murder of his own wife, four of his five children, his mother-in-law, and his brother.
His wax figure stood in Madame Tussaud's Chamber of Secrets for over 127 years .
