William Tannen (Director)

William Tannen (also Bill Tannen ; born August 31, 1942 in New York City ) is an American director and film producer .

life and career

Tannen studied at Boston University . He completed his studies with a Bachelor of Science in Communications.

He began his career at the New York advertising agency BBDO , where he implemented the “Girl Watchers” campaign for Diet Pepsi , which won several Clio Awards . After working in other advertising agencies, he founded his own production company Sunday Productions in New York, with which he shot commercials for various clients.

In 1968 Tannen shot his first short film Eulogy for RFK , which was shown at the New York Film Festival . He later moved to Los Angeles , where he directed commercials for Pepsi, Air France, McDonald's, Ford and Diet Coke.

In 1984 he made his debut as a director of a feature film with the political thriller Flashpoint - Die Grenzwölfe . He later made other feature films and also directed television series and specials.

Since 2013 he has been teaching directing workshops at the École internationale de création audiovisuelle et de réalisation (EICAR) in Paris .
