William Zephyrine Gomes

William Zephyrine Gomes (born August 26, 1916 in Karachi ; † March 5, 2004 ) was Bishop of Poona .

Life

William Zephyrine Gomes was ordained a priest on December 22, 1941 .

John XXIII appointed him on March 18, 1961 auxiliary bishop in Bombay and titular bishop of Parlais . The Pope personally consecrated him bishop on May 21 of the same year ; Co-consecrators were Fulton John Sheen , Auxiliary Bishop in New York , and Edoardo Mason MCCJ , Vicar Apostolic of El Obeid .

He took part in the second to fourth session of the Second Vatican Council . Paul VI appointed him on June 12, 1967 Bishop of Poona . He resigned from his office on December 1, 1976.
