Willy Büchi

Willy Büchi (born June 7, 1907 in Beatenberg ; † December 7, 1990 in Freiburg im Üechtland ; resident in Eschlikon ) was a Swiss economist .

Life

Family and education

The Catholic baptized, native beat Willy Berger Buchi, son of the painter Caspar Ernst Buchi and born of his wife Anna Häller 1928 put the Matura on Stiftsgymnasium in Engelberg from. He then turned to the study of philosophy , law and political science at the University of Freiburg , the University of Geneva , the University of Zurich and the University of Leuven , where he received his doctorate in economics and social sciences in 1938 .

Willy Büchi married Carla Schönenberger in 1946. He died in Freiburg in December 1990 at the age of 83.

Professional background

Willy Büchi had been employed by Professor Jacob Lorenz at the Federal Price Control Department and in the organization of the Swiss petrol market regulation since 1932 , before he took over the secretary position of the central office of the Swiss Petrol Union in 1934. In 1937 he moved to the Swiss Wool Manufacturers Association in Zurich in the same position . In addition, he was temporarily employed as secretary of the Association of Employers in the Textile Industry and as an employee in the war economy organization of the Federal Department of Economic Affairs (FDEA) .

In 1950 he accepted an appointment to the extraordinary professorship of practical economics at the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences of the University of Freiburg im Üechtland, in 1955 he was appointed full professor . Willy Büchi, who was the Dean's Office from 1959 to 1960 , retired in 1974 . In 1964 he was appointed head of the Department of Applied Social Sciences at the Institute for Specialized Education. In this function he achieved the recognition of social work as a university discipline.
